THE CITY OF AGRICULTURAL PROFESSIONS "I'M IN AGRO" HAS CLOSED ITS OPERATIONS IN SMOLENSK.
On May 18, the interactive educational platform "City of Professions in the Agricultural Industry" (I'm in Agro), organized by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, has closed its operations at the Smolensk State Agricultural Academy. Over the course of seven days, the project attracted over 5,600 visitors, offering guests the opportunity to see the agricultural industry from the inside and try their hand at various professions.
Two educational tracks were prepared for the participants: "You are in Agro" and "Agroheroes." The site featured 16 thematic zones where children and teenagers learned more about the Russian agricultural sector and were introduced to modern technologies used in agriculture.
The young participants conducted experiments with milk, learned to determine its quality, and became familiar with food safety principles. Using interactive panels, they selected the right feed for farm animals and learned how nutrition affects their health and productivity. For completing tasks, the children earned in-game currency, which they exchanged for healthy treats, making the learning process both engaging and motivating.
The teenagers participated in digital and technological activities: using AR technology, they learned about the process of making bread and cheese, used VR headsets to take virtual tours of modern farms and factories, learned about a phytotron, and learned how specialists work with genetic code. At the end of the program, participants received a stylized photo postcard: each could choose a profession in the agricultural sector and see himself in a new role.
The free-to-use areas were no less exciting. Guests participated in mini-tractor races, tried their hand at operating machinery, and at the "Bakery" workshop, learned about the professions of baker and bakery technologist and decorated gingerbread cookies. Interactive fishing rounded out the program, making their introduction to the agricultural sector more diverse and engaging.
Also as part of the project, students at the Smolensk State Agricultural Academy participated in "AgroDigital Lessons," organized by «Agropromtsifra». Students learned about the operating principles of state information systems in the agro-industrial complex — the Federal State Information System "Grain," "Saturn," "Seed Production," and Unified Federal State Information System on Agricultural Lands — and their role in the modern industry. Participants learned how digital solutions enable product tracking from field to fork, expedite the receipt of government support, and improve the efficiency of agribusiness. The classes were interactive: students analyzed real-life cases, completed thematic assignments, and tried their hand at various professions in the digital agro-industrial complex.
