DURING THE "AGRODIGITAL" CLASSES, STUDENTS FROM THE SMOLENSK STATE AGRICULTURAL ACADEMY LEARNED ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE FEDERAL STATE INFORMATION SYSTEM OF THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND HOW TO START A CAREER IN THE DIGITAL AGRO-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX
The Smolensk State Agricultural Academy concluded the intensive educational course "Lessons in AgroDigital," organized by AgropromDigital, the unified center for digitalization of the agro-industrial complex. Over the course of two days, more than 300 students learned why working with Federal Government Information Systems (FGIS) is becoming a promising area for future farmers and how digital competencies open up new career opportunities.
From May 13th to 14th, the academy held a series of five lectures under the general title "Taking Off: Starting a Career in the Digital Agricultural Sector" as part of the City of Professions in the Agricultural Sector "I'm in Agro" project.
The classes were led by Galina Tsiryanidi, Head of Educational Projects at JSC “Agropromtsifra”. The main objective was to get acquainted future specialists with the modern federal government information systems of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture and the career opportunities offered by digital technologies.
Students were introduced to the key components of the "digital nervous system" of the domestic agricultural sector: FGIS "Grain," FGIS "Saturn," FGIS "Seed Production," and the Unified Federal State Information System "Agricultural Lands." The expert explained that the data from these platforms forms a unified ecosystem that provides agricultural producers with practical tools.
During interactive exercises, participants mastered the functionality of each system and learned about in-demand professions emerging at the intersection of agronomy and IT. Promising positions included FGIS operator, Digital Agronomist, Data Analyst, Project Manager, and Business Analyst in the agricultural sector. Special attention was paid to opportunities for independent learning: attendees were introduced to the AgroAcademy Portal, where they can take free online courses and work with state information system simulators.
Acting Rector of the Smolensk State Agricultural Academy, Sergey Kharitonov, noted that such initiatives are an important step in training a new generation of personnel.
"Modern agriculture isn't just about fieldwork; it also involves high technology, big data, and digital monitoring. For Smolensk State Agricultural Academy, holding the 'AgroDigital Lessons' is an important step in training a new generation of specialists. I am confident that direct dialogue with AgropromDigital experts will help our students understand the scale of the digital transformation of the agro-industrial complex and find their calling in this promising field," noted the Acting Rector of Smolensk State Agricultural Academy.
"Thanks to our project, agriculture is no longer just a theoretical subject for schoolchildren and students. The interactive format and practical problem solving allow them to experience the profession firsthand. Early familiarization with the Ministry of Agriculture's Federal State Information System (FSIS) is key to quickly adapting to the modern realities of the agricultural sector," noted Olga Chebunina, CEO of JSC “Agropromtsifra”. She expressed gratitude to the Smolensk State Agricultural Academy for its assistance in organizing the lectures and confirmed their intention to develop joint educational projects.
"The key outcome of our digital lessons is a change in students' professional perspectives. The future belongs to specialists who can combine basic agricultural technologies with digital services, including the Federal State Information System (FGIS). To transform this idea into a tangible career launch, Agropromtsifra created the AgroAcademy — a unique, free environment for safely mastering digital skills. More than 7,000 users are already working with FGIS simulators for crop production, and FGIS for livestock production is next. Students at the Smolensk State Agricultural Academy have seen that they can begin building an in-demand career at the intersection of agriculture and digital technologies right now, while still in college," emphasized Galina Tsirianidi.
