STUDENTS FROM THE SMOLENSK STATE AGRICULTURAL ACADEMY ARE REVIVING HISTORY ON THE FORTRESS WALLS
Technology students from the Academy, representatives of the "Movement of the First," and activists from the Russian Union of Rural Youth participated in the unique project "Historical Vegetable Garden on the Smolensk Fortress Walls."
This initiative, implemented by the Smolensk Fortress Museum as an interactive exhibition, is dedicated to the labor heroism of Smolensk residents who rebuilt the heroic city after its liberation from the Nazi invaders. During those difficult years, the fortress walls became a home for many, and in shell crates, people grew vegetables and herbs to survive.
Under the guidance of project designer Nika Paradashvili, the team carried out a series of spring projects: they loosened the soil and planted microgreens, fragrant herbs, and garden crops.
Thanks to their collaborative efforts, the fortress walls began to "speak" again, telling the story of the city's rebirth through every green sprout.
