THE FOCUS IS ON COOPERATION AND THE CREATION OF PROJECT GROUPS TO ADDRESS CURRENT CHALLENGES IN AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE
An Academy delegation led by Acting Rector Sergey Kharitonov participated in the strategic session "Priority 2030: A Consortium of Science and Practice for Technological Leadership in the Agro-Industrial Complex," held at Timiryazev Academy.
The event brought together about 400 representatives from agricultural universities, businesses, and the scientific community, covering four key areas: agro- and biotechnology, animal husbandry, and education.
The objectives were:
• Plant growing and agricultural technologies: achieving 75% self-sufficiency in seeds by 2030 through accelerated selection, a unified database, as well as the development of biologically active substances, increasing soil fertility, optimizing the use of fertilizers and plant protection products.
• Animal husbandry: in the next five years it is necessary to implement the transition from traditional selection to modeling, i.e. obtaining agricultural animals with given useful characteristics.
• Biotechnology: creation of domestic organic and amino acid products, enzyme preparations, modified starches and starters.
Additionally, the focus was on new educational programs, particularly the "Engineer of the Future" program. Participants discussed key issues related to training personnel for the industry and developed solutions for improving educational programs based on business needs and a practical approach.
The unification of science, education, and business, teamwork, lively dialogue between academics and young scientists, and powerful team building - this kind of cooperation will help the agro-industrial complex reach new heights!
