A POSTGRADUATE STUDENT FROM THE SMOLENSK STATE AGRICULTURAL ACADEMY WAS AWARDED A SILVER MEDAL AT THE ALL-RUSSIAN EXHIBITION "GOLDEN AUTUMN-2025"
Dmitry Merkulov's project, "High-Pressure Cutting Turbo Unit for Primary Processing of Flax Straw," presented as part of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture's "Creation and Production of Highly Efficient Agricultural Machinery and Implementation of Digital Technologies" competition, was awarded a silver medal and a diploma.
The development is intended for processing flax raw materials, namely, for separating flax fibers from shives and creating the necessary pressure of the shive-fiber air mixture for its transportation through a pneumatic transport system.
It eliminates the need for an additional fan, reduces energy costs by 25%, and processes raw materials directly in the field, turning what would previously have been burned into valuable fiber.
The turbo unit was developed under the supervision of scientists from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology: Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Alexander Nikiforov and Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor Marina Perepichay.
The high rating of the Smolensk State Agricultural Academy's project in this competition not only confirms its innovativeness but also clearly demonstrates that Russian engineering is actively working to lay a solid foundation for technological independence and sustainable development of the domestic agricultural sector.
