THE FIFTH STREAM OF THE EDUCATIONAL PROJECT "FARMER'S SCHOOL" HAS LAUNCHED AT THE SMOLENSK STATE AGRICULTURAL ACADEMY.

The federal educational program "Farmer's School" has launched at the Smolensk State Agricultural Academy. It is being implemented by Rosselkhozbank with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Smolensk Region.
For five years now, the project has been successfully implemented at the Academy and leading farms in the region, including the farms of school graduates. It provides unique knowledge and opportunities for those seeking to develop agribusiness in the Smolensk region.
This year, program participants will gain knowledge and skills in three areas: "Organization of Livestock Production and Processing," "Crop Production," and "Agritourism." Forty-one students have begun training, including four students - Special Military Operation participants. Both existing farmers seeking to improve their business efficiency and newcomers taking their first steps in the agricultural sector and dreaming of launching a business from scratch will gain new knowledge.
Welcoming remarks were given by Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Smolensk Region Alexey Kuchumov, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Smolensk Region Ekaterina Efremova, Director of the Smolensk branch of JSC Rosselkhozbank Evgeny Lasy, the acting rector of the Smolensk State Agricultural Academy Sergei Kharitonov, the general director of the autonomous non-profit organization "Center for Agricultural Consulting" Irina Streltsova, the executive director of the Smolensk Regional Audit Union of Agricultural Cooperatives Tatyana Drozdova and Dean of the Faculty of Continuing Education Alexander Vernigor.
In 2025, the Smolensk Region became one of the regions of the Russian Federation implementing the "Farmer's School" educational project for the fifth time. Over the course of four years, 137 participants have been trained. They note that after completing the training, they have reconsidered their farm development plans, become more sensible in budgeting, learned to calculate profits, and discovered new areas of expertise. "We take into account all student requests to ensure that each subsequent course is even more effective and productive. The launch of the new "Farmer's School" program is another step toward creating a sustainable and competitive agricultural economy," noted Alexander Vladimirovich.
Anton and Daria Petukhov, graduates of the previous cohort, spoke at the event. They advised aspiring farmers not to miss the opportunity to gain unique knowledge and experience, as well as useful contacts that will help them discover new horizons.
It's worth noting that training at the Farmer's School is free of charge, and the most promising graduates can receive grants and other support from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Smolensk Region and JSC Rosselkhozbank.
